For some, a quick beauty transformation is made with a slick of red lipstick, a stroke of smoky eyeshadow or a sweep of blusher. My personal mood boost is often achieved with a spritz of scent, and I think I have found a new favourite with the launch of Reem Acra Eau de Parfum, the eponymous first fragrance from the Lebanese couture and bridal designer, who dresses numerous Hollywood stars for red carpets including Kristen Stewart, Bar Rafaeli and January Jones.
Reflecting the designer’s devotion to the classics and modern luxury and sophistication, the perfume, created by perfumer Pierre Negrin of Firmenich, includes bergamot, peach and orange blossom at the top; ginger, jasmine, lily of the valley and peony in the heart; and amber, cedar, patchouli and warm musk in the base. The beautiful gold bottle and outer packaging is embellished with Ms. Acra’s insignia, a whimsical dove pattern that reflects regal Eastern tradition.
“When designing, I always strive to make women look and feel beautiful. Perfume is a more intimate, yet subtle, way of achieving that,” said Acra, “A fragrance can create a mood, inspire confidence and, in an instant, transform the way a woman looks and feels. It is truly magical.”
Perfumer Pierre Negrin drew creative inspiration from the stories of Ms. Acra’s past and her present day fashion collections. Moved by the elegant fabrics and the rich golden amber tones that lined the runway, Pierre opted for the warmer notes in the perfumer’s palette to recreate a special scent reminiscent of the cedar wood forests in Lebanon. To complement the luxurious draping and ethereal layers of Ms. Acra’s designs, sleek, sheer and translucent amber notes offer a sense of movement while orange blossom and jasmine, two of Ms. Acra’s personal favorites help to round out the fragrance.
